Rosenheim (dpa/lby) – In Upper Bavaria, telephone scammers cheated two senior citizens on the same day for a total of around 120,000 euros. As the police announced on Thursday, the unknown criminals lied to those called in both cases on Wednesday that a family member had caused an accident and now had to post bail. A senior handed over coins worth around 50,000 euros in the Berchtesgadener Land district. In the district of Rosenheim, a senior handed over gold coins and gold bars worth around 70,000 euros.
The police repeatedly warn of such scams and point out that officers never ask for cash, money transfers or valuables for investigative purposes.
