Munich (dpa / lby) – After the wintry weekend in parts of Bavaria, it will be dry again. It snowed heavily between Lower Bavaria and Lower Franconia, and the snow even stayed at times, said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Sunday. The best conditions for a snowman were in the Bavarian Forest with 15 centimeters of snow. The onset of winter did not occur in the other areas of Bavaria.

Towards Monday it will be drier from the west, with highs of six degrees Celsius. In the night to Tuesday, the DWD expects hardly any frost and temperatures of around eight to ten degrees during the day. As a result, the snow disappears again to higher altitudes.

Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU) sees Bavaria prepared for the winter. “The winter can come, we are prepared,” he explained on Sunday with a view to the supply of road salt for the winter service. “Should it be a very icy winter, we will get supplies from German salt deposits and are therefore independent of deliveries from other countries.”
