Gersthofen (dpa / lby) – After a series of stones thrown at moving cars, the police in Swabia are looking for the unknown perpetrator or perpetrators. According to police reports on Tuesday, a total of nine stones have been thrown from bridges on the Autobahn-like federal highway 2 between Gersthofen (Augsburg district) and Mertingen (Donau-Ries district) since the end of October.
Several vehicles were damaged and property damage amounting to several thousand euros was incurred. Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicle were not injured.
As a spokesman for the police headquarters in Augsburg explained, the investigators assume stones with a diameter of several centimeters. They are so big that they can cause significant damage, said police spokesman Markus Trieb.
The police are investigating dangerous interventions in road traffic and are increasingly patrolling the area. Drivers who make suspicious observations on the B2 should immediately call 110. In addition, the officials hope that witnesses will report who can say something about the previous cases
