Ühlingen-Birkendorf (dpa / lsw) – During a ride, a young woman near Ühlingen-Birkendorf (Waldshut district) fell off her horse and was dragged about four meters along. Because the terrain is steep, mountainous and overgrown with many trees and everything was wet, she had to be rescued from the air with a stretcher on Monday, according to the police. The 22-year-old was flown to a hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.
The horse was startled on Sunday afternoon for an initially unclear reason and bolted. The woman with the riding helmet slipped sideways off the horse, was able to hold on to the reins and was dragged along. She hit her head in the fall, but was responsive afterwards. Another rider called for help and the horse was caught.
