Munich (dpa/lby) – A young driver near Munich was caught on the A94 motorway more than twice as fast as allowed, despite wintry road conditions. In some cases, speeds of over 250 kilometers per hour were detected by the police officers driving behind the car on Monday evening, a spokesman for the Munich police headquarters reported on Wednesday. The maximum permissible speed was therefore 100 kilometers per hour.
Despite the slippery surface, the 21-year-old driver also failed to observe the necessary safety distance from other vehicles. According to the spokesman, the young man was on his way home and was stopped and checked near his home in the Munich district. He’ll likely face criminal charges.
