Lichtenfels (dpa / lby) – An 83-year-old wrong-way driver drove her car seven kilometers on the A73 near Ebensfeld (Lichtenfels district) without an accident. Police patrols halted southbound traffic Saturday morning after nearly 30 reports of the wrong-way drive toward Bad Staffelstein were received. A police officer, who was privately driving his car in the right lane next to her, noticed the driver and drove parallel to her along the highway to tell other patrols the position of the 83-year-old, as the police announced on Sunday night. When she left the Autobahn near Bad Staffelstein, the policeman stopped her car in the market square.
According to her own statements, the woman had proceeded accordingly. The officials confiscated her driver’s license and initiated investigations into endangering road traffic against the 83-year-old. Her son then picked her up from the police station.
