Schwandorf (dpa / lby) – A man in the Upper Palatinate accidentally seriously injured himself with a homemade firearm. The over 70-year-old from the Schwandorf district actually wanted to chase away birds with the device on Friday, the police said on Monday. Ultimately, however, he shot himself in the stomach with the weapon, which was made up of parts from a bolt gun and a hand-rolled barrel. The man had to be operated on in a clinic and was out of danger on Monday. The police are investigating a possible violation of the gun law.
