Nittenau (dpa / lby) – In the Upper Palatinate, the police are investigating a British tar column after unsolicited construction work. The squad had started in the hamlet of Lohbügl (Schwandorf district) to renew the entrance to a property without being asked by the astonished homeowner, as the Nittenau police station announced on Thursday.
The man called the police, but by the time the patrol arrived, workers had removed most of the old driveway. The homeowner reported the workers and their boss for fraud and property damage. Apparently, however, the construction workers said they were willing to repair or pay for the damage on the spot: both sides had reached a “civil agreement,” the statement said.
According to the police, there have been similar cases in the past in which tar crews tried to cheat homeowners.
