Adelshofen (dpa / lby) – In a manure pit on a farm in Middle Franconia, several people have become unconscious during cleaning work, probably because of toxic fumes. They came to hospitals, the police said on Wednesday.

A 68-year-old farmer wanted to open a slider in the pit filled with water and liquid manure in the pigsty in Adelshofen on Tuesday. In the process, he lost consciousness. His wife rushed to his aid. The 64-year-old was also unconscious. A man who wanted to help also briefly lost consciousness in the pit. The 37-year-old, together with other first responders, managed to single out the couple.

The police assume that released ammonia in the manure pit led to the health problems. It was said that the couple could not initially be in danger of life.
