Fürth (dpa / lby) – Inflation has risen again in Bavaria. In October, inflation was 11 percent compared to the same month last year, as the State Statistics Office announced on Friday. That was 0.7 percentage points more than in September. The pace of monthly inflation has slowed somewhat, but an 11 percent inflation rate has not been seen in decades.

The highest price increases are in energy: Household energy – that is electricity, gas and other fuels – became more expensive by 61.7 percentage points. However, it is not just the rapidly rising energy prices that are playing a role. Even excluding heating oil, petrol and motor fuels, according to the state office, inflation was 9.9 percent. Food became almost 19 percent more expensive year-on-year.
