Horgau/Zusmarshausen (dpa/lby) – Police officers tracked down a drunk driver with a drone. The 22-year-old fled on foot from a check on Tuesday night after drunk driving near Horgau in the Augsburg district, according to the Zusmarshausen police. He was then discovered with the drone in a field and arrested.
Shortly before midnight, the driver, who was traveling with a passenger in a van, was noticed by a patrol. In a subsequent chase, the man suddenly stopped and ran into a sunflower field. While police officers held the passenger, several strips surrounded the field. A drone pilot tracked down the driver and illuminated his location in order to guide the emergency services there. According to the police, the 22-year-old was obviously under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
