Bad Staffelstein (dpa / lby) – According to Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder, the federal government should assume at least half of the costs for the G7 summit in Schloss Elmau. “Ordering and not paying bills is not possible. That would be cheating and not a model for cooperation between the federal and state governments. We expect at least half from the federal government,” said the CSU leader, according to participants on Wednesday in a non-public Speech to the CSU members of the Bundestag in the Banz monastery near Bad Staffelstein.

The Free State has budgeted 188 million euros for the three-day G7 summit. Most of it went to security expenses. How the costs will ultimately be divided is currently being negotiated between the state and the federal government. The G7 summit took place at the end of June for the second time after 2015 in the luxury hotel Schloss Elmau not far from the Zugspitze.
