Fürth (dpa / lby) – Coach Alexander Zorniger is counting on his team against Fortuna Düsseldorf being able to build on their recent successful performances in front of their own audience. “Our aggressiveness in the last few home games was always there,” said Zorniger before the game this Saturday (1 p.m. / Sky) at the Ronhof sports park.
After the acclaimed 1-0 in the Frankenderby against 1. FC Nürnberg, there was a 1-2 in Karlsruhe after a poor performance. The Düsseldorf team thinks Zorniger is “good at football” and has “a lot of power” in attack.
Max Christiansen, who is available again after muscular problems, is said to be a factor in the success of the Kleeblatt. The midfielder is not a speaker on the pitch, but “a player with different skills,” said Zorniger. The 26-year-old is a strong runner and understands the game. Marco John could drop out. Luca Itter would play for him on the left.
Zorniger is quite satisfied with the development of the Fürth team under his guidance. “Out of seven games we’ve lost two, drawn one and won four. That’s a number we can go on with. Overall, a lot is right,” he said on Thursday. Moving away from the relegation zone in the table and working further up is not that easy and not a wish concert: “We have to generate performance.”
