Milan (dpa / lby) – Inter Milan’s top striker Romelo Lukaku is injured again before the Champions League game against FC Bayern Munich. The 29-year-old Belgian sustained an injury to his left thigh, Internazionale announced on Monday. His condition should be reassessed in the coming days. The top scorer falls out again after only a short time. Italian media reckoned that Lukaku could only be back on the pitch for Inter next year. What the injury means for his participation in the World Cup in Qatar was not clear.
The Nerazzurri play this Tuesday (9:00 p.m.) in the away game against the German record champions in Munich. Both teams have already qualified for the round of 16.
Lukaku has only been back on the pitch for two games. Most recently, coach Simone Inzaghi brought him on in the 3-0 home win in Serie A against Sampdoria Genoa last Saturday. Before that, he was given time to play in the Champions League game against Viktoria Pilsen on Wednesday. Until then, Lukaku’s last appearance was two months ago due to injury, namely at the end of August away against Lazio Rome.
