Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The state government has commissioned a study on the planned introduction of a “Hesse passport” for people with little or no income. The Institute for Economics, Work and Culture at Frankfurt’s Goethe University is primarily examining feasibility, the Ministry of Social Affairs explained in response to a parliamentary question from the left-wing faction in the state parliament in Wiesbaden. A concept for implementation “should provide the basis for deciding on how to proceed”.

The “Hessen Pass” is intended to promote the social and cultural participation of poorer people. The example is the existing social passports of the municipalities, which allow, among other things, reduced or free entry to cultural and leisure facilities.
