Gießen (dpa/lhe) – A World War II bomb was discovered during dismantling work in a clay pit in the Schiffenberg Forest near Gießen. The 500 kilogram remnant from the Second World War should be defused on Monday, as the city of Gießen announced. To do this, several roads and the 485 motorway had to be temporarily closed within a radius of 500 meters. Local residents were not affected by the defusing, the police said. The defusing should start in the afternoon. The police asked people to avoid forest trails in the area.
