Adrien Quatennens (coordinator of La France Insoumise, and representative of Nupes) was the candidate for his re-election to the 1st District of the North. He received 52.05% of all votes cast. Despite his score, the outgoing deputy received only 23.36% votes from registered voters. This does not permit him to be elected in round one.
Next Sunday, he will be facing Vanessa Duhamel (candidate Together! (presidential majority), and opposition municipal councilor of Lille, who is second with 21.07%.
Jean-Luc Melenchon loyal, the 32-year old elected official should, therefore, with his media visibility, and the Nupes alliance, strive for a bigger victory than 2017 when he won with 50.11%. 50 votes more against LaREM and when he had to face other left-wing candidates (PS, EELV, and PCF) in the first round.
Jean-Luc Melenchon won this constituency with 41.78%. This is far more than Emmanuel Macron (24.54%). Adrien Quatennens looks very favorable in the second round.
He declared after the first round that the “popular bloc”, as he called it, was now represented by his family and Marine Le Pen.
Adrien Quatennens is originally from the North and was born in Lille. He began his commitment to the North in 2006 against his first job contract (CPE). Attac, as well as associations that assist the homeless, became his next choice. After joining Jean-Luc Melenchon 2008, he joined the Left Party 2013.
