Hamburg (dpa / mv) – In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the number of divorces continues to decline – but so does the number of marriages. This was announced by the MV Statistical Office on Friday. Accordingly, the number of divorces in 2021 was 2499 – the lowest value since 1994. In 2020 there were still 2577 marriages that were officially ended. In 2021, about 6.2 percent fewer couples married than in the previous year.
The fewest divorces were recorded in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim, most in the state capital of Schwerin. Civil partnerships were also dissolved less in 2021, nationwide there were only 16 last year.
