Schwerin/Rostock/Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) – The Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania warn companies against attempted fraud. Member companies of the IHK organization received emails asking them to enter company data, the IHKs said in a joint statement on Friday. “The companies are promised a special service by their IHK, such as the payment of an energy surcharge or a tax refund.” This is an attempt to get company data including account details.

“Affected companies should under no circumstances follow the requests from the e-mail, in addition to the data theft there is also the risk that malware will be spread,” said Siegbert Eisenach, IHK general manager in Schwerin.
