Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) – In the trial for the violent death of a man in Neustrelitz (Mecklenburg Lake District), the accused is silent in court. The 39-year-old declined to comment on the charges at the start of the hearing at the Neubrandenburg district court on Tuesday. The public prosecutor accuses the 39-year-old of manslaughter and serious arson.
The Neustrelitzer is said to have stabbed a 60-year-old acquaintance with whom he had lived for a short time in June. Both men are said to have drunk alcohol beforehand and got into an argument. After the fact, he washed the knife in the kitchen, set a fire there and left, according to the indictment.
The victim was stabbed in the neck and bled to death. The fire went out by itself. The fire department found the dead man. The accused was arrested a short time later after information. A verdict is expected in early December.
