Schwerin (dpa / mv) – The volleyball players from SSC Palmberg Schwerin are still worried about the use of important players before the game at leaders SC Potsdam on Friday (5.30 p.m.). Accordingly, coach Felix Koslowski emphasized on Thursday before the final training session in his own hall: “Before we start thinking about Potsdam, we first have to think about our own team. That we have as many healthy players as possible.”
The biggest shortage of personnel is currently in the player position. “Pia Kästner is coming by for the first time today. We have no idea what condition she is in and what she can do at all,” admitted Koslowski. Pia Fernau, on the other hand, only trained for around 20 minutes on Wednesday, which is why Paulina Ströh should probably be responsible again. The 16-year-old talent celebrated an impressive Bundesliga debut in the 3-0 win against USC Munster on Tuesday.
In the meantime, the SSC had to reject the plan to have the game postponed because of the many injured players. “We have read the statutes again carefully and consulted the league. There are no games postponed due to illness.” A further complication for Koslowski is that he cannot fall back on the young players from the second SSC team. “They’re all on vacation at the moment.”
Despite the difficult sporting circumstances when third in the table and the undisputed role of the Potsdam team as favourites, the 38-year-old made it clear: “We want to take something with us and are not going there to surrender.”
