Cologne (dpa / lnw) – Six months after the discovery of a dead baby in a temporary refugee accommodation in Cologne, the public prosecutor’s office has stopped the investigation. The mother of the newborn could not be found, said a spokesman for the authority. Despite extensive forensic examinations, it was not possible to clarify whether the infant was alive at birth and how he died. There was no concrete evidence of external violence. The “Kölnische Rundschau” had previously reported.
The dead baby was found in temporary accommodation for Ukrainian refugees at the Cologne exhibition center in May. Cleaners had discovered it in a toilet stall, where it was hidden behind a ceiling tile.
