Wuppertal (dpa / lnw) – Due to a permanent shortage of staff, the Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) have reduced their bus timetable. From November 21st, a reduced timetable will apply, the municipal utilities announced on Monday. On some bus lines, the frequency is reduced from 20 to 30 minutes and from 10 minutes to 15 minutes in the mornings, midday and afternoons.
The measure was unavoidable due to the driver shortage. Numerous other public transport companies in North Rhine-Westphalia have also announced cuts in the last few days and weeks due to a lack of staff or high levels of sick leave among drivers, for example in Dortmund, Münster, Cologne and Bonn.
Since this is not a short-term problem, the reduced WSW timetable is expected to remain in force until spring 2023.
