Remscheid (dpa / lnw) – The German Radiological Society has launched a junior academy to promote scientifically and technically talented children. The mayor of the city also took part in the foundation in the German Roentgen Museum in Remscheid on Saturday, said a spokeswoman for the museum.

The Junior Academy wants to help school children up to the 7th grade to deepen their inclinations in medicine or natural sciences. The museum’s scientific staff assist girls and boys in conducting experiments that suit their interests, a museum staffer said. Talented children are to be inspired for research. In the long term, the academy wants to contribute to counteracting the shortage of skilled workers in the technical, scientific and medical professions, according to the X-ray Society.
