Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – After an apartment fire in a Dortmund apartment building, a disabled man died. According to initial findings, a fire broke out in the 57-year-old’s kitchen on the second floor, as the fire department announced on Tuesday. According to initial police investigations, the food on the stove caught fire. Emergency services found the man unresponsive in his wheelchair. So far, according to the police, it is unclear whether he had an accident before the fire broke out. According to the fire brigade, he later died in hospital despite rescue measures being initiated immediately.

Accordingly, 40 emergency services were on site to fight the fire on Monday afternoon. Other people were not injured. The police are now investigating how exactly the fire started.
