Duisburg (dpa / lnw) – 50 Christmas trees have been stolen – but the Duisburg police cannot take the pre-Christmas mood away in their investigations. In search of the brazen thieves who struck at a stall in the city, the officers quickly rewrote the popular “O Tannenbaum” and had it sung by a police officer.
You can hear it on Facebook since Wednesday: “O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum, how bold are these perpetrators? They struck at Christmas time, spreading terror far and wide! O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum, how bold are these perpetrators?” Three more stanzas follow. “There are now 50 trees away from the Mayor-Wendel-Eck. O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, who will help us to find them?”
The clues to the perpetrators are still very vague. “They were there from Monday to Tuesday, it’s not clear with which sled. O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum, where have you gone?” The police are now hoping for information from witnesses.
