Cologne (dpa / lnw) – The front railcar of a city railway in Cologne jumped off the track near the Ubierring stop on Thursday morning and landed at an intersection. About 70 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. However, no one was injured, said a spokesman for the Cologne police on request. The accident site was temporarily cordoned off over a large area, causing traffic delays on the surrounding streets.
A crane from the Cologne Transport Authority (KVB) lifted the railcar back onto the track after the rear carriage had been separated. According to a police spokesman, it is still being determined why the train derailed. The Cologne newspapers also reported.
