Paderborn (dpa / lnw) – A 32-year-old woman died in a clinic one day after a fall with a rented e-scooter in Paderborn’s Schloss Neuhaus district. The single-vehicle accident happened early on Saturday morning, the police said on Monday. The accident was only reported with the death of the 32-year-old.
According to previous investigations, the 32-year-old and her partner (33) rode a rented electric scooter on a footpath and cycle path at around 1.50 a.m. last Saturday. Suddenly, the man behind him heard the noise of falling, and the 32-year-old had fallen on his head without outside influence. She wasn’t wearing a helmet. She initially refused medical treatment. The two parked the rental scooters and walked home, it said.
When the victims’ headaches increased, the man called the emergency services. She was first taken to a Paderborn hospital, but was later transferred to a clinic in Bielefeld due to her injuries, where she died on Sunday.
With the support of a traffic accident team, the Paderborn police secured tracks at the scene of the accident and secured several e-scooters. Prosecutors ordered an autopsy on the woman. The police are now looking for more witnesses to the accident.
