Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The main customs office in Magdeburg discovered smuggled goods during an inspection of trucks with postal items from other European countries. 8,200 duty-unpaid cigarettes and 4,000 duty-unpaid tobacco sticks for electronic cigarettes were found during the campaign at the beginning of November, according to a spokesman for the main customs office in Magdeburg. Mail order selling of cigarettes is therefore illegal. In addition, the inspectors found a liter of liquid doping agent and around 1000 doping tablets, 257 unauthorized pyrotechnic articles and weapon parts. 5,000 mail items in 21 trucks were checked, and X-ray technology was also used.
