Dresden (dpa/sn) – Ten women and men from all over Saxony received the undoped Anne Medal 2022 for special social commitment. They were proposed by churches, charities and local governments, as the Ministry of Social Affairs announced on Tuesday at the ceremony in Dresden. In their free time or when they are of retirement age, the volunteers look after imprisoned women, the disabled or the elderly, help refugees, addicts, the homeless or children and young people from difficult family backgrounds or in the rescue service. The Meissen porcelain award, named after the benevolent Electress Anna of Saxony (1532-1585), has been presented annually since 1995. This honors people who have worked selflessly for society for many years.
