Leipzig (dpa/sn) – In the struggle for skilled workers for the future, according to EU Commissioner Nicolas Schmit, young people must be introduced to technology and natural sciences at an early stage. “Europe thrives on its innovative strength and Saxony’s industry needs smart young people,” he said on Thursday during a visit to the VDI garage in Leipzig.
According to Saxony’s Economics Ministry, the EU is supporting various projects at the facility with money from the European Social Fund. The VDI garage with workshops and laboratories sees itself as a technology adventure world for children and young people. Courses, workshops and camps are offered both in-school and extra-curricular.
