Zwickau (dpa/sn) – About half a year after the violent death of a man in Syrau (Vogtland district), the murder trial against a 28-year-old begins on Wednesday (9:00 a.m.). The prosecution alleges that he banged a beer bottle on the man’s head at night, stabbed him with a kitchen knife and hit him several times in the head with an ax. The victim was surprised by the attack while lying in bed. The whole thing is said to have been preceded by a dispute over a mobile phone connector. According to the information, the accused was drunk at the time of the crime and therefore less criminally responsible. That could reduce the sentence.

The 28-year-old is in custody. For the time being, the Zwickau District Court has scheduled two more days of hearings on November 11th and 23rd.
