Eight reasons why every day more people bet on the autogasEn what is similar and what the differences are between the LPG and the GNCAumenta the network of workshops to tailor vehicles to LPG and to get the label ECO

The vehicles of liquefied petroleum gas, also known as LPG, which have set a new record in Spain to overcome in the first eight months of 2019 the number of enrolments of all of the previous year. In particular, between 1 January and 31 August, enrolled 19.645 new units , in front of the 19.598 registered throughout 2018, according to data from the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).

The statistics confirm that the Autogas has become the main option in the market of alternative vehicles in Spain, with a share of 2.7% compared to 0.6% of the electric and 0.4% of the natural gas powered (CNG). For every electric car sold four of Autogas, despite the fact that many Administrations are betting publicly for the electric mobility as the only alternative.

there are Currently more than 100,000 vehicles powered by Autogas in Spain and this figure grows at a higher rate than the 2,000 new units each month. In particular, nearly 20,000 registrations between January and August, representing an average of 2.455 per month, a figure that exceeds clearly the rising 1,633 recorded on a monthly basis during 2018.

In the first eight months of 2019 there has been an increase of 62.6% with regard to the 12.081 vehicles registered from January 1 to August 31, 2018. If you are maintaining the trend, Spain will close the year with about 30,000 registrations of vehicles to Autogas. This progression is reflected also in the sales of this fuel, which have increased by more than 50% in comparison with the previous year.

“More than 30 million cars already employ this option all over the world and the Spanish market still has a great potential of development to reach the levels of penetration of other european countries,” explains James Doe , director-general of GasLicuado, the association that gathers the main companies of the industry of the liquefied gas (or LPG) in Spain.

in Addition to the registrations of new cars, the technology of Autogas offers the possibility of transforming vehicles existing in a quick and affordable which is carried out in specialized workshops, thereby contributing to the circular economy and the reduction of emissions. In 2018 are adapted to be around 6,000 units in Spain and in 2019 have already been exceeded 5,000 until August, according to data from GasLicuado.

“The steady growth of this alternative of sustainable mobility occurs at a time of general decrease in the total number of enrolments, caused by the uncertainty around the regulation,” recalls the head of GasLicuado. “In this regard, we are pleased that the Ministry of Industry defended last Thursday on the necessity of having all the technologies available to renew the car fleet and improve air quality,” he adds.

The advantage of tag ECHO

“The betting is heavily involved in the Autogas,” says Perez, “Spanish consumers are recognizing its benefits both from the economic point of view, since the LPG costs almost half that of other traditional fuels, as well as from the respect for the environment”.

These vehicles generate about 80% less NOx, up to 100% less particulate pollutants, and about a 15% less CO2. For this reason, the DGT recognized with the label ECO, which provides its owners the advantage of circular no restrictions for the center of the cities, to enjoy of bonuses in areas of regulated parking and join the lane bus-HOV regardless of the number of occupants.

in Addition, there are already 670 service stations with Autogas in Spain and the autonomy of these vehicles is over 1,100 kilometres, which allows you to circulate throughout the national territory with guarantees full-charge.
