Some of the nursing staff in clinics and retirement homes received a corona bonus last year. In June, the Bundestag decided on a new bonus for the nursing staff who were particularly stressed during the pandemic.
Erfurt (dpa/th) – Employees at 26 of the approximately 40 hospitals in Thuringia will benefit from the recent corona bonus for nursing staff. They belong to 837 clinics nationwide, as the institute for the remuneration system in hospitals (Inek) informed the German Press Agency on request. The funds were transferred to the Central Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds at the beginning of October, which will forward them to the hospitals entitled to claim. According to health insurance companies, several hundred geriatric care facilities in Thuringia can also pay out corona premiums to employees.
The institute was unable to say how many employees would specifically benefit from the Corona bonus. It also did not provide any information on the respective sum that is attributable to the individual houses. The size of the bonus payment for the individual employees depends, among other things, on whether they work full-time or part-time. An important criterion is how often they have direct patient contact on wards with beds.
According to a spokeswoman, the health insurance company AOK plus alone paid out around 3.1 million euros to 250 outpatient nursing services and 4.8 million euros to 290 nursing homes and semi-inpatient facilities. At Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), the payout volume is almost four million euros, as the health insurance company announced. 254 institutions had applied for payment. Depending on the region, different health insurance companies are responsible for payment in Thuringia, mainly AOK plus and TK.
In geriatric care, employees receive up to 550 euros depending on the specific activity and working hours.
In June, the Bundestag decided to provide another billion euros for corona care premiums – half each for employees in geriatric care and half in hospitals. Last year, corona bonuses were paid to hospital and geriatric nursing staff for special stress during the pandemic.
