In 1994, the Spice Girls formed in London – and, with several interruptions, continue to inspire to this day. Most recently, their fans are allowed to scream three years ago during a stadium tour. Will there be a repeat soon? “Baby Spice” Emma Bunton hints at new projects for the band in full force.
“Baby Spice” Emma Bunton has confirmed that the Spice Girls are planning new projects. The group has “things in the pipeline,” she said on British TV show “This Morning,” without being specific. The band discusses ideas – with all five original members. Accordingly, “Posh Spice” Victoria Beckham would also be back on board, who had suspended the last tour in 2019.
According to 46-year-old Bunton, the first talks took place on Geri “Ginger Spice” Horner’s (née Halliwell) 50th birthday, when the group had met for the first time in a long time. David Beckham, husband of Victoria and former professional soccer player, published a video of the party on Instagram in early November, where the Spice Girls dance together and sing their song “Say You’ll Be There”.
“We either meet and just talk about the kids, or we meet and talk about other projects that we could do,” Bunton said. “I think it would be nice to do something,” she said. “I don’t know if it’s going to be a tour, but there are things in the pipeline that we’d love to do together again – all of us.”
During the interview, Bunton also revealed that the band members are “in talks” about a documentary series. But there are no “final” plans yet. Bunton therefore scolded her Spice Girls colleague Mel B, who had previously spoken about it. “She always does,” Bunton said. “We have to tell her, ‘Melanie, don’t tell anyone while we’re having these discussions.’ But I love it because she’s so excited,” the singer admitted. “We love that part of Mel, but if we want something to remain a secret, we don’t tell her.”
The Spice Girls had delighted fans by reuniting at Geri Horner’s birthday party earlier this month. For the 25th anniversary of “Spiceworld”, a new edition of the second band album was only announced in September.
