The Russian Ministry of Defense has assured this Sunday that it has repelled a massive attack by Ukrainian drones against the Crimean city of Sevastopol, the base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

“This morning an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with seven unmanned aerial devices and two unmanned semi-submersibles against targets on the territory of the Crimean peninsula near the city of Sevastopol was thwarted,” Defense said in a statement.

According to the note, two drones have been destroyed by air defense and the other five more, neutralized by electronic means without reaching their objectives.

In addition, in the northern part of the Black Sea, two unmanned vessels of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were discovered and killed.

“As a result of the frustrated terrorist attack, there were no victims or damage,” they say in the Russian ministry.

Previously, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, also reported the attack that he describes as “massive and prolonged.”

Hours after posting his message on Telegram, Razvozhaev has made a new announcement in which he communicates a new drone attack against the port of Sevastopol.

According to the Crimean governor, the drone was intercepted by Russian radio-electronic fighting means and destroyed in the water.

“The air situation is under control,” he adds. Since the attack that last October damaged the Kerch bridge, which connects Crimea with Russia, the annexed peninsula has been the target of frequent attacks with drones and missiles.
