CCOO complaint that it is a speculative operation for the requalification of the industrial areas where products are manufactured Gallina Blanca
The factory catalana was the embryo of what has come to be the industrial group of the family Carulla
BARCELONA
The trade union CCOO has made public the intention of the group to GBFoods (old Agrolimen) to close the production centre of Sant Joan Despí facilities in Ballobar (Huesca). According to the union, the decision of the family Carulla, owner of the manufacturer of soups and broths and food products, due to a future reclassification of the land where is located the factory of Catalan, which gives employment to 70 people.
According to CCOO, the factory of Sant Joan Despí, which produces dehydrated soups with the brand Gallina Blanca, gives work to 70 people, of which 42 are of a White Hen and the rest of subcontracted companies.
White Hen was a pioneer in Sant Joan Despí. Was the first to be installed in the Poligono Industrial Fontsanta, developed in the decade of the 50s of the last century. It is the first production facility in an industrial area after the facilities that the family Carulla had in the paseo de Gràcia in Barcelona will remain small after the success of the popular “cubes” Gallina Blanca.
The union has rejected “overwhelmingly” the closure of the company to carry out what they consider as a real estate transaction purely speculative, without taking into account the jobs and the lives of many families, according to a press release in which it has been advanced that the template provides for the convening of several mobilizations in the coming days.
In Catalonia, the group has other industrial facilities in the polígono industrial Can Jardí, in Ruby,in that it has an advanced center of research and development for new products.
The group GBFoods is currently one of the major multinationals in the food sector. With a turnover of 728 million euros and a team of 2,400 employees, the group is present in Spain, Italy, Holland, Russia, the CIS countries, 30 countries in Africa, the middle East and Asia with its food products from the hand of brands such as Gallina Blanca, Star, Jumbo, Grand’italia, and Gino.
