The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has warned in its forecast for today, Thursday March 2, of low temperatures in Spain that will reach 10 degrees below zero in the province of Teruel and that will have a large part of the country on yellow notice or orange.
The risk due to cold will be for the Andalusian provinces of Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva and Seville; or to the Aragonese provinces of Teruel, Zaragoza (orange notice) and Huesca (yellow notice).
The Principality of Asturias, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, the Community of Madrid or La Rioja will also be on yellow notice this Thursday due to low temperatures.
In addition, in Castilla y León, Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora will be at risk; and, in Castilla-La Mancha, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara and Toledo. In Catalonia, the provinces of Girona and Lleida will also be under yellow warning due to the cold; in Extremadura, Cáceres will be at risk; and in Galicia, Lugo and Orense.
The snow level will be 900/1,100 meters in the Balearic Islands, 700/1,100 meters in the eastern Pyrenees and 500/800 meters in the rest of the Pyrenees, and 200/300 meters rising to 700/900 meters in the eastern Cantabrian, high Ebro and north of the Iberian system.
For its part, there is a risk of storms in Ibiza and Formentera, in the Balearic Islands; and to Alicante in the Valencian Community.
This Thursday cloudy skies are expected to predominate in the eastern Cantabrian area, with probable weak rainfall; and cloudy skies in the northeastern third of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with a probability of precipitation in Mallorca and Menorca, as well as in the western Balearic Islands and around Cabo de La Nao, where they may be accompanied by occasional storms.
In the southwest of the peninsula, Estrecho and Melilla there will be cloudy intervals with a tendency to remain slightly cloudy. In the rest of the Peninsula there is a predominance of little cloudy or clear skies. In the Canary Islands, cloudy intervals, without ruling out some weak and isolated showers in the central islands.
The AEMET does not rule out morning mists and fog banks in the interior of Galicia, and in the southwest and center of the northern plateau.
The wind will blow from a strong tramontana or with strong intervals in the Balearic archipelago and Ampurdán, west in the Strait and Alborán, northeast wind on the coast of Galicia and Asturias and north wind in the Ebro. In the rest of the country, light wind north component.
