A week after it premiered on Netflix, ‘El cuerpo en llamas’, the television series about what is known as the ‘Guardia Urbana crime’, the condemned Rosa Peral, who is embodied in fiction by actress Úrsula Corberó, has asked to paralyze the emission. She considers that the series may violate her right to her honor and that of her daughters and for this reason she has demanded precautionary measures on the dissemination of the series that narrates the love triangle within the Urban Police of Barcelona that ended tragically.
The Barcelona Court sentenced Rosa Peral to 25 years in prison in 2020 for murdering her partner, Pedro R., in the house they shared in Vilanova. She did it together with her lover, Albert López, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison. After the crime, they hid the body in the trunk of a car and set it on fire near the Foix reservoir. The two murderers and the victim were members of the Urban Guard of Barcelona.
Unsurprisingly, the crime had numerous elements to become books, TV shows, and a series. It was produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures and stars Úrsula Corberó and Quim Gutiérrez in the lead roles. However, Rosa Peral filed a lawsuit in which she asks to review the series before its premiere to verify that it violates her right to honor and paralyze its premiere until she can watch it. She does it after several claims to see the series to the producer, as she anticipates ‘The Stenographer’. The Court of First Instance 54 of Barcelona received this request for precautionary measures and opened a procedure to process them, prior to the acceptance or not of the demand. In addition, he urged Peral’s lawyers to correct formal errors in her letter and the Prosecutor’s Office to rule on the competence of the court to assume this claim.
For the moment, the premiere of ‘The body on fire’ is maintained for a week from now, although it is clear that even before it can be seen on Netflix it is one of its bets for the season. The court will have the last word on whether Rosa Peral can enjoy an exclusive premiere from jail.
