Carpool Karaoke came to an end with an installment released on YouTube on Monday, April 24. Adele was the last guest of the popular section of the ‘late show’ by James Corden. The singer and the presenter, who maintain a close friendship, could not hold back their tears on their car trip.
The video starts by showing how the artist visits her friend’s house and wakes him up with some cymbals: “It’s the last week of the program, so I’m going to take you to work by car.” This time, the Brit takes the passenger seat and lets the star get behind the wheel, although he points out that she is not a good driver.
Adele bursts into tears when she tells how Corden and her family helped her get over her divorce in 2019. She also explains that she was inspired by him to compose I Drink Wine: “Every time I sing it in Las Vegas I think of you.” He gets excited about her before starting to perform said song with her.
The host comments, looking at the CBS studios at the end of the episode, “This is the last time I’ll ever do this.” In addition, he expresses her gratitude to the singer, who replies: “You are one of my best friends in the whole world.” She tearfully confesses that she is going to miss him a lot as he is moving back to the UK with his wife and children. “Our friendship and our family’s friendship has absolutely nothing to do with distance and time,” Corden notes.
The Late Late Show with James Corden will say goodbye definitively with the episode that can be seen on the American channel CBS at dawn from April 27 to 28. “I’m excited and scared in equal measure,” confesses the presenter when talking about the end of the format in Carpool Karaoke.
“I’m going to miss everything. I think I’ve underestimated how many friends I’ve made. It’s like family. More than anything, I’ll miss going to work with my friends every day. And I’m going to miss Los Angeles. It’s been a brilliant adventure but I’m sure it’s time to go home,” he explains.
Adele asks him about some of the biggest moments in the history of his popular drive-thru. He remembers episodes with Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder, who helped other celebrities agree to get into her car.
The latest installment of Carpool Karaoke shows Adele singing along with the presenter her songs Rolling In The Deep, Love Is A Game, I Drink Wine and Hometown Glory, with which they close an emotional chapter. They also perform a version of Barbra Streisand’s Don’t Rain On My Parade.
