Hit-skip, Royalton Road: On Jan. 27, police were dispatched to a two-car crash on Royalton Road. An arriving officer talked to the Lexus driver, who said they were rear-ended by a GMC truck.
After the accident, a male passenger exited the GMC and said they should move into the Speedway parking lot. While the Lexus driver went to the gas station, the GMC took off. The Lexus driver didn’t get a license plate number.
The officer said the Lexus had a small indentation and minor scrapes. Police are investigating.
Stop sign, Westwood Drive: On Jan. 27, a police officer watched Asyabahis a Jeep go through a stop sign at the intersection of Westwood Drive and Prospect Road. The officer gave the driver a warning.
Drunken driving, Whitney Road: On Jan. 27, police observed a weaving Dodge on Whitney Road. While talking to the driver, the officer smelled alcohol. After failing a field sobriety test, the driver was arrested for drunken driving.
Theft, SouthPark Center: On Jan. 27, a worker reported tools stolen out of his work van, which was parked between Houlihan’s and Macy’s. The man said the day before the tools were taken during the lunch hour.
He already filed a report with mall security; however, his boss required a police report. There are no suspects.
Shoplifting, Royalton Road: On Jan. 27, a BP employee caught a man stealing. The store manager asked the police to tell the thief not to return to the store. If he does come back, the police said they would arrest him for trespassing.
Shoplifting, SouthPark Center: On Jan. 27, mall security called police after watching two men fill bags with merchandise and walk out of a store. An arriving officer located the men in the parking lot as they left in their car.
Both were arrested for shoplifting.
Shoplifting, Royalton Road: On Jan. 27, police were dispatched to Target after an employee noticed a woman bought a coat that had stolen items hidden in the pockets. The employee was unable to get the thief’s license plate.
An arriving officer was unable to locate the car. Police are investigating.
Suspicious person, Pearl Road: On Jan. 27, a passerby called police regarding a suspicious man walking in the middle of Pearl Road. The caller said the guy may have been drunk. An arriving officer talked to the man, who was found not walking in the middle of the street, but instead on the sidewalk.
The man said he had just finished his shift at Giant Eagle and was walking home. The officer said the man was not drunk.
Loud music, Pearl Road: On Jan. 28, police were dispatched to a Pearl Road apartment complex after a resident complained about a neighbor playing loud music. An arriving officer talked to the neighbor, who at the time wasn’t playing their music too loud.
He did admit earlier the tunes were turned up. The man said he’d turn his music down.
