France aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. To achieve this, Élisabeth Borne will bring together the political parties on Monday, September 18, in order to “present to them the principles of ecological planning,” Olivier Véran, government spokesperson, announced this Wednesday. This meeting will be followed by the ecological planning council, chaired by Emmanuel Macron, on a date which remains to be determined.

This meeting, in plenary format, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., according to Matignon, and is distinct from the bilateral talks that the Prime Minister is holding this week with parliamentary groups and political parties.

“And there will be held, under the responsibility of the President of the Republic, an ecological planning council (CPE), in the days or weeks that follow, with a breakdown of the different measures of this ambitious roadmap, sector by sector”, said Olivier Véran. The date of the CPE “is still being finalized,” said the spokesperson.

This roadmap was initially supposed to be adopted and unveiled before the summer, but it has been postponed numerous times. However, several interministerial meetings were held this summer on the subject, according to Olivier Véran.

Matignon must also present on Monday, September 18, the solidarity pact, the second part of the government’s strategy to combat poverty, which had been announced for January, postponed to March, then to the summer.
