The heat is rising all over France. If the thermometers are already very high in certain sectors of France this Sunday, the peak should arrive on Tuesday, with temperatures which can rise up to 40 degrees around the Mediterranean. The area most affected is the South-East, according to Météo-France, and more precisely the Midi-Pyrénées to the south of the Rhône-Alpes.

As of Monday, certain departments will be placed in heat wave yellow vigilance: the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the Var and the Gard. They join Corsica, Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône, which also remains under yellow vigilance, and the Alpes-Maritimes, in orange. The Weather Channel expects a “scorching day south of a Bordeaux-Dijon line”, and warns: “At night, temperatures will not drop below 20°C”.

Météo-France specifies that this heatwave episode is “not exceptional”, but its “persistence requires particular vigilance, in particular for sensitive or exposed people”. The temperature will drop slightly on Thursday, but the heat will remain intense and will be accompanied by winds, “a mistral and a tramontana, increasing the risk of fires starting”.
