Munich (dpa / lby) – On Thursday and Friday, subways, trams and many buses in Munich will stop because of a warning strike. From the start of operations on Thursday morning, the Verdi union asked its employees to go on a two-day walkout. The action is intended to put pressure on the collective bargaining, in which the trade union for Munich is demanding a significant increase in wages and alignment with the area collective agreement.
Not affected by the warning strike are the S-Bahn trains operated by Deutsche Bahn, as well as regional trains and buses. The Munich transport company MVG called for people to avoid the bus, subway and tram on both days.
For safety reasons, the subway will initially not go into operation on Thursday. Whether individual subways and trams will run later depends on the personnel situation, it said. In the bus sector, about every second vehicle will be used and distributed across the entire network. Here it is noticeable that bus cooperation partners of MVG are not affected by the warning strike.
