Mühlhausen (dpa/th) – A 35-year-old man was in a chase with the police in the Wartburg district. On Tuesday evening, police officers recognized the 35-year-old, who did not have a driver’s license and was known to the police, at the wheel of a car on a country road near Nazza, as the officials announced on Wednesday. Accordingly, when the man discovered the police patrol, he immediately accelerated and tried to shake off the officers.
In the course of the chase, he drove at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour and repeatedly deactivated his lights. According to the information, on the run he raced through towns and also one-way streets in the wrong direction. After an emergency stop in Mühlhausen, the man fled on foot and was able to evade police access on site. However, the police investigation confirmed the identity of the 35-year-old. Several criminal proceedings were instituted against him.
