Shannon Sharpe recently shared a couple of experiences that made him change his habit of staying at women’s homes. The Pro Football Hall of Famer recounted two incidents that led him to this decision during an appearance on the “Funky Friday” podcast hosted by Cam Newton.
The first incident occurred when Sharpe was returning to Georgia after being drafted by the Broncos. He didn’t want to startle his grandmother by arriving home late, so he called a woman to ask if he could stay over. However, the night turned into a nightmare when an unexpected visitor caused chaos in the house. Although the man didn’t seem to have a problem with Sharpe, the situation was tense, and Sharpe decided to leave.
The second incident took place during homecoming at Savannah State University. Sharpe met a woman there and decided to stay at her place. Unfortunately, things took a dangerous turn when a man with a gun burst into the room. Sharpe was grateful for the interruption, realizing that he could have been in serious trouble if things had escalated.
These two incidents made Sharpe swear off staying at women’s homes ever again. He emphasized that he hasn’t spent a night at a woman’s house in 31 years. Despite these scary experiences, Sharpe had a successful NFL career, playing 12 seasons with the Broncos and two with the Ravens. He won three Super Bowl titles and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
