So, like, Devin Murray had a pretty solid game, going 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI to help 17th-seeded Glen Ridge take down 16th-seeded Belleville 5-2 in the preliminary round of the 92nd Greater Newark Tournament. It was a real nail-biter until Glen Ridge exploded for five runs in the top of the sixth inning. Gabe Carter, Jayden Ingle, Alex Bowman, and Max Pace all chipped in with a RBI in that crucial inning. Jace Loeb also had a nice game, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jackson Soshnick did his part too, going 1-for-2 with two walks, a run, and a stolen base.

In the pitching department, Loeb was the star of the show. He struck out eight batters over six innings, only allowing two unearned runs, one hit, two walks, and three hit by pitches. Anthony Alonge came in for the save in the seventh inning. With this win, Glen Ridge now has to face off against top-seeded Seton Hall Prep in the first round on Friday. It’s definitely going to be a tough matchup for them.

On the flip side, Belleville didn’t have the best day, falling to a 6-9 record after this loss. Tough break for them, but that’s just how the game goes sometimes. It’s all about bouncing back and learning from these experiences, right? At least that’s what they say.
