Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Saxony-Anhalt is getting a police rabbi. As the Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday, an agreement with the National Association of Jewish Communities will be signed on Monday. After Baden-Württemberg, Saxony-Anhalt is the second federal state to appoint a police rabbi. The rabbis are confidants for Jewish life in the police force and impart knowledge about Judaism.
According to the information, the state chairman of the Jewish communities, Max Privorozki, and Saxony-Anhalt’s interior minister, Tamara Zieschang (CDU), will sign the agreement in Halle. The synagogue of the Jewish community in Halle was the target of a right-wing terrorist attack in 2019.
