Ingolstadt (dpa/lby) – The ERC Ingolstadt is represented on the European ice hockey stage for the first time in seven years. As second in the table in the German Ice Hockey League, Upper Bavaria has already secured their starting place in the Champions Hockey League (CHL) one game day before the end of the main round. Previously, the main round winner EHC Red Bull Munich had already qualified for the European premier class.

The Ingolstadt team last played internationally in the 2016/17 season. “Qualifying for the European competition is a well-deserved reward for an outstanding main round. The team has consistently played at a very high level and only failed to finish in the top three on eight matchdays. We’re looking forward to games against the best teams in Europe and we want to play a good role in the CHL,” said ERC Sporting Director Tim Regan.
