Maddie Falvey, who went 3-for-4 with a double and racked up two RBI, played a crucial role in sixth-seeded Immaculata’s 8-7 victory over third-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan during the quarterfinal round of the Somerset County Tournament in Bridgewater. Not only did Falvey shine at the plate, but she also pitched the entire game for Immaculata, allowing five hits, striking out five batters, hitting four opposing players, and giving up two earned runs.

Immaculata started strong, taking a 5-0 lead after the top of the second inning. However, Bridgewater-Raritan fought back with a six-run surge in the bottom of the second, snatching a 6-5 lead. They extended their lead with another run in the third inning, making it 7-5. Immaculata managed to even the score with a two-run performance in the top of the fourth inning before ultimately securing the lead with a run in the top of the seventh inning.

Mollie Ferreira and Madeline Tavaglione each contributed with a single and two RBI for Immaculata, while Caroline Duffey went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Sienna Newsome stood out for Bridgewater-Raritan with a double and two RBI, Angela Tremarco went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jessica Pastorick scored two runs and went 1-for-3.

In the upcoming semifinal round of the Somerset County Tournament, Immaculata will face off against second-seeded Pingry on Wednesday. It’s sure to be an exciting match-up between these two talented teams.
